As a trained professional dancer and a wellness coach, I’ve spent my entire life enjoying the benefits of dance. The pandemic challenged our belief about where and when to do classes. As I pivoted to teaching my classes on Zoom and offering pre-recorded videos to my students, we all learned about how to keep dance front and center in our lives. As we return to the studio, many of my students asked that I not give up the online tools I’ve created. It’s allowed them to flex their days and to fit dance, their favorite type of workout, into their busy lives.
As a result, I’ve created a monthly membership format that offers:
- Lower cost per class
- Flexibility to attend either online or in-person (or a combination of both)
- Access to a rotating library of previous dance class videos when you’re away, wanting to review and practice choreography or just seeking more workouts!
- Coaching and additional workshops
Since launching my RitmoKá classes 13 years ago, I’ve seen my students thrive in so many ways. Whether it’s those who are new to dance or those who have loved it for years, they find it the most enjoyable way to workout.
RitmoKá is a fusion of two words—Ritmo is rhythm in Spanish and Ká is for Katy. Together they mean Katy's rhythm. Routines are influenced by Latin steps such as Salsa, Samba, Flamenco, Merengue, and folklore as well as Jazz and Contemporary. RitmoKá is not only the choreography I bring to my classes but also my commitment to improving core strength so students can achieve their wish to dance forever!
RitmoKá is based in the San Francisco East Bay and offering in-person classes at the renowned Shawl Anderson Dance Center (SADC). Located in Berkeley (between Alcatraz Ave & College Ave), the studio is extremely clean and outfitted with air filters, air conditioning, fans and a second back door allowing optimal air circulation. SADC has been at the forefront of COVID-19 safety measures and continues to implement all the precautions and protocols to keep the community’s wellbeing a top priority.
RitmoKá Dance Classes and Barre workouts are open to all levels with options to fit their needs and still get the most of each class.
